Apple’s move to block Samsung Galaxy sales in the U.S. denied

Apple and Samsung’s brutal global patent war has been heating up more and more recently, with the most recent “battle” in Australia ending in Samsung’s favor – temporarily, at least. Now it looks like Samsung scored another victory, as Reuters is reporting that Apple’s move to block Samsung Galaxy sales in the U.S. has been rejected by a judge.

According to the report, the ruling from U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh in San Jose, California came in late Friday. The judge came to the conclusion that, based on the evidence Apple presented to the courts, “It is not clear that an injunction on Samsung’s accused devices would prevent Apple from being irreparably harmed,”

This doesn’t spell the end for Apple and Samsung’s patent battle in the U.S., however. The lawsuit will continue on but, for now, Samsung will be allowed to sell their Galaxy lineup in the States.

In Koh’s ruling, she wrote that Apple would likely succeed in proving that Samsung infringed on one of Apple’s tablet patents. However, Koh adds that Apple may not be able to overcome Samsung’s challenges to the validity of Apple’s patents.
